The Story Of the Inspiring Journey - "Yuvraj Singh"
Everyone may
be inspired by someone in his/her life. For example, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, M.S.
Dhoni, Albert Einstein, Sharukh Khan, Narendra Modi, etc. I am sharing one
story which inspires me a lot. This story is about Yuvraj Singh, which is the
most remarkable cricketer and his struggling life.
Yuvraj Singh is one of the most remarkable
cricketers who has redefined winning over struggle. His personal life and his struggle with the
dreaded disease cancer is an inspiration for all of us. He is also one of the
players who is honored with Arjuna award and has been declared Man of the
Tournament in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.
He was not at all interested in his studies. His hobbies
were playing cricket, football, tennis, skating, etc. So, his father suggested
him choose the career according to his interest areas and stay focus on a
particular field i.e. cricket. That’s how his career started .Even though, it
was not so easy for him. Now, his struggling life started; he was rejected at the under 14 trials in Haryana but at
every step of the way he pushed harder towards the one goal that he wanted to
dedicate his life towards…playing for India.
He played for the 1st time for Air India’s
corporate team and his stipend for the whole month was 500 Rupees which was
given by Punjab Communications. The real turning point was the Under 19 World
Cup where he performed better than ever before. He watched Tendulkar and
Ganguly on his Television set and he knew that someday he would be out there
playing with them.In 2000 he got the
opportunity to play his first International game with Tendulkar, Ganguly,
Kumble, etc. His dreams came true and he was very happy because they were like
family.
The journey has been tremendous. Whether it was
hitting 6 sixes, or winning the 2011 World Cup, these are special moments which
very few people in the world have the privilege of experiencing and that’s why
he always felt privileged while playing for the country .
In everyone’s life ups and downs are there. So ,that
doesn’t means to give up. But, Yuvraj fought for his life and won. One cannot
always live up to the expectations where a nation of 1.2 billion people wants
you to win every single game. It is said that-“Nothing could have been worse
than having to give up something you love” and he had to get out of the game
for many months because of his battle with cancer. Firstly, he was
contradicting about it – Playing for India was more important than his health
and for a few months he chose to ignore all the symptoms of cancer which can
distract his mind for playing the cricket.
It’s only once he accepted cancer that he could beat
it. “When life knocks down you have a choice — to get up”. So, he thought to
himself –‘To get up and do it again’. He came back within 3 months of his treatment,
only because he was not done with cricket — He don’t think he will ever be done
with it.
So, Yuvraj life was full of challenges and risks but
he never give up. He was always ready to face new challenges. If you believe in
yourself and have dedication and pride - and never quit, you'll be definitely a
winner.
Moral of the Story:- “A champion is someone who gets
up when he can’t !!!”
“Never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be
worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine!!”
